DUKE AND BARON

Well Family, Friends and Blip Friends you are NOT going to believe it, but after an uncomfortable night (the bed wasnt very comfortable but HUGE, I tried to have a shower this morning and ------- IT DIDN'T WORK!!!!

I DO NOT BELIEVE IT - in the immortal words of Victor Meldrew.  I mean you've gotta larff haven't ya!!!  So we're back in the room that I initially booked, which is smaller but a much better room and the shower works - yeah!!!

So after a ropey start (again) and the weather was very grey and a bit drizzly we headed off to see Duke and Baron otherwise known  as The Kelpies, as the weather is unlikely to improve.  THEY ARE AMAZING and so much bigger than I imagined them to be, they are 30 metres high!!!!!.  I've added another photo in extras with Hubby stood underneath them so you can see the scale, if you can see him that is, and he's 6'2"!!!!

The Kelpies are the horses that these were modelled on. For those that don't know Kelpies are mythical shape shifting sea creatures but are mostly in the form of a horse, particularly a black one;  Now Blipper The Broon has beaten me to it and sent much  better photos of mine of them all lit up - if the weather improves enough over the next two days we will go back so I can take a photo of them lit up.

Anyway after a look around the shop and the exhibition we booked to go  on the tour inside them.  Our tour guide was so lovely and she was very very knowledgeable.  There is little protection from the weather in there but just a little.  There is double doors that open up to let you in and each single door weighs A TON, so you have to let her go in first so she can ensure they are fully secure.  We thoroughly enjoyed it.  As the talk came to an end the rain started to become more persistent and it was extremely misty so we dashed back to the cafe.  We were just going to have a bowl of soup, but they had STOVIES so we just had to have that - it was delicious but soooo very filling.  So no need to eat this  evening, just a couple  of oat cakes that we've bought in or a sandwich maybe.  For those that don't know Stovies is delicious and can also be known we stovy tatties, stoved potatoes, stovers or stovocks) is a Scottish dish based on potatoes. Recipes and ingredients vary widely but the dish contains potatoes, usually onions and pieces of meat, todays were local sausages. In some versions, other vegetables may also be added.  It also comes with a couple of oatcakes.   G tells me that a lot of people also drink milk with it - but that would be way tooo much for me.

We decided not to go to the Falkirk Wheel as the weather was too wet and more importantly very misty and as we just wanted to chill out, we came back to our new room to do that.

I caught up with your blips yesterday and will try to reply to them again a bt later.  Do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
