ROBERT THE BRUCE

Well what a day - mostly good.

We left Glenrothes about 9.30 and were at the Battle of Bannockburn Experience by 10:20!!!!  Way too early, so we went for a coffee,  had a look at the little shop and then had a walk around the parkland.  There were many signs telling you about the history of the place, which was very interesting.  They had a large paved area which had which had sayins all aorund it and as you walked in it triggered off an audio which is very interesting and informative and right outsid this is this enormous statue of Robert The Bruce.

The pre-booked time slot for the Battle ex[eroemce was very interesting and taught us things that we didn't know before and it explained it both from the sides of the English and the Scots.

After this we stayed in the cafe for lunch.  It is a very limited menu, basically cakes, sausage rolls, pies or soup & roll.  Well a soup and roll suited us so we had that and it was very nice.

After that we headed for Falkirk.  It only took 20 minutes and enroute we went right past The Kelpies and were bypassing them before we realised it.  I still managed to get a couple of snaps (not great but not not awful).  We ended up arriving far too early,  So we sat in the Reception area until the alloted time.  Our Room still wasn't ready and was likely to be quite some time apparently so the Receptionist said she gave us a slight upgrade.  Lovely we thought!!!

This didn't turn out to be so.  The bathroom was gorgeous, the room nice but a but smaller than we thought and the hanging space tiny.  Still looked fine and it was only for a few nights.  However, it was right opposite the very busy car park, above the main entrance to both the Hotel Reception and The Steakhouse.  Still, we'd get by - that was until several people gathered right under our windows and besides being quite loud they were smoking and I really can't stand the smell of smoke.  So although I had already unpacked we packed up yet again and Reception kindly found us a Family Room we could move to.  Seems to be the theme of this holiday - re-packing to move!!!  Am I being unreasonable??!!!!

Now this room is larger, has better hanging pace, is a the back of the hotel so quieter.  However the dressing table has so many marks  on it from hot cups being placed there andhas chips in  the wood and a not a lot of draw space. Also the bathroom isn't as nice. However it is still pleasant enough, just not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel!!! Maybe  I expect to much.  Anyway this is where we are for the next 4 nights.

We went down to the Steak houe for ameal tonight - food was very nice but the bar prices are HORRENDOUS - £1O for a small glass of Pinot Grigio!!!!!  So I didn't bother.

Now going to retire for the night and see what the weather is like for tomorrow.  It doesn't look too good, but we will see.

Do take care and stay safe and I will catch up whenever I can.
