Spring Equinox

Nothing says spring like a giant pile of wood chips for the gardens.
The other day, Dan went for a walk and passed some guys clearing brush and trees and using a chipper. He told them if they needed a place to dump the chips he would take them. On Saturday they showed up with a truck load. This pile is as tall as me!
A number of years ago we got a pile of chips from someone and put it over a new garden area. It now is the bed near the tea house. It turned into the best soil. So we will add this to some beds and maybe make some walkways with it in the gardens so it can decompose but I don't have to plant directly into it. There is a lot of spruce in there and it smells really great. We've covered up some of our really muddy walkways with it and it's perfect.
I was so smug yesterday about having the day off and how beautiful it was going to be. It was beautiful but very windy and so really chilly. I still enjoyed my day, though.
