Historical Building Mill Road

I have driven past this building probably every other week at least for the last 8 years to visit my friend David in School Court. With my interest in buildings and architecture I have always like this building for even longer than that.

The building had planning permission granted in 1924 and 1100 £1 shares where sold to fund the the start of the building. Ramsey Macdonald, the first Labour Prim Minister laid the foundation stone in 1926. As funds ran short local people gave their time freely to complete the building.

The building was stopped being used by the Labour Party in 2014 and although it has been used by a couple of gyms it has been has been allowed to fall into disrepair. A sad situation for an elegant building.
