His grace

Thankfully, on our last day in Silverdale the sun came out. I got photos of some nice plants, including Bird's-eye Primrose that came into flower this morning. However, the star of today has to be his grace the Duke of Burgundy, Hamearis Lucina, one of the most threatened butterflies in the UK. I managed to see three males in the clearings managed specially for them at Gait Barrows National Nature Reserve - a really wonderful experience as there were few other species of butterfly on the wing despite the improved conditions, just Green-veined Whites, Orange-tips and Peacocks.
