A day in the life

Strawberry fields

I live just to the left of the tree to the left, fifty metres down the hill. The stones mark the highest point right here and has probably been a place of worship och maybe indicating that you are about to enter the house of one of the major clan-leaders at the time of the iron-age, some 1500 years ago. The right stone is about 1.8 metres high, the left one slightly lower. Then, this was the home one of the strongest chiefs on the island with his own private army of fighters and plenty of slaves taking care of cattle, land and houses. From here you can see the mainland and the straits in between, you can't enter unnoticed.

Today this is the Robertsson family strawberry field. You could say that Robertsson is one of the clan-leader of today, one of the main grower of strawberries around here his "slaves" consists mainly of people from Rumania, who harvest the strawberry fields, cucumber, pumpkin and other vegetables but he actually pay them money for doing the work. He owns a lot of land around here and his family are involved in many small enterprises. The times they are a changing.
