Failed attempt at Lank Rigg

We drove over to Ennerdale today to try to walk Lank Rigg, which we've only done a couple of times before.

After last night's rain, the going was particularly boggy, but we managed to get across the first stream without too much difficulty, after another mile or so we came to this one - as you can see, short of taking off out boots and wading across, there was no way (and the force of the flow was such that wading wasn't an option anyway). Even the narrow looking bit in the foreground was about six feet wide between dry landing points. If you look in the distance, you'll see a little orange figure - Deb. looking upstream to see if there was any other way across. So we turned round and went back to a great little café in Ennerdale Bridge for a sausage and bacon roll to compensate.

We'll be back!
