Undersanding the Basement

Part of the brick floor of the basement had sunk so I lifted those bricks for re-levelling.  It probably shouldn't have been a great surprise as the method is still used for block paving, but the floor is simply laid on sand.

What was definitely a surprise was how much sand - at least as deep as that crowbar is long.

Still, it made it a quick repair - with a couple of bags of sand and a large hammer to 'persuade' the last brick into place.
