A Meandering Life...

A Blip Meet by Post

Today we went with the Pelorus Mail Boat out of Havelock, something we have done before in 2014 and 2019. The day started with us travelling through the middle of a cloud. I'm pleased to say the majority of the day we did have very fine weather.

My main Blip typifies the role of the Mail Boat. Pelorus Sound has a number of outlying communities or isolated homesteads that relies on their post, supplies and even transport in and out of the wilderness through this service.

Here we see one such owner being dropped off near her home. The home is up the side of the hillside and over the other side. The Postal Service promises to drop you off but it is up to you where you build your home...

My first Extra show some of the things we saw along the way including a couple of the welcoming committees at the jetties we stopped at.

My second Extra is special. The trip was a Blip Meet, not that CrankyCaptain realised it when he set out this morning. Apparently it was his first official Blip Meet (I'd be surprised if there hasn't been another Blipper on his boat over the past year or so.)

It was a pleasure to meet James/CrankyCaptain and I can honestly say he is not cranky at all. I have included Jordon his crew for the day.
