Goose X-ing at Spring Lake

Spring Lake was a busy place this morning--the usual moms and strollers, runners, walkers and dogs, as well as the Canada geese who seem to be working hard at saturating the area with a lot more Canada Geese--a mixed blessing since they make quite a mess! The bonus in today's blip was the egret rising out of the grass. I didn't see him until I saw the shot on the computer.

Although he's supposed to be on a lead, we let Ozzie sneak into the lake so that he could chase sticks and wash off the sand and salt from the beach yesterday. In another week or so, the cafe will open for the summer and we hope we'll be able to have our morning coffee.

Lady F and I did a little shopping today while Oilman and HL went off to the Russian River brewery for a pint or two. They they apparently decided to trade an extra pint for a trip to the nursery to replenish our vegetable garden. While we were gone, the lettuce bolted and the parsley and cilantro in the herb bed needed replenishing.

After eating seemingly nonstop, we decided to forego lunch today in favor of a dinner at Willi's Wine Bar--a sentimental favorite for OilMan and me, since it is one of the places that helped convince us that we really did want to move to Sonoma County. Instead of lunch, Lady F and I sat outside at the downtown Santa Rosa Peet's with coffee and got caught up on talk about our families. Since we've known each other for so long, we always have a lot to talk about....
