Joan’s blips

Voting Day

Today we are voting in our state to decide which political party will vote for the next four years. Voting is compulsory in Australia. No long lines as it is a small voting location.

The present political party has been in for twelve years … some people will decide we need a change and others will decide to keep with what they know.

I will turn the TV on at 6pm and watch the election broadcast. Friends and I will text back and forth about our joy or despair during the night. I won’t stay up if they don’t have a result by bedtime.

The extra shows the local Rotary Club raising money with a sausage sizzle. As people leave the hall after voting they can purchase a slice of bread with a sausage and barbecued onion plus sauce of their choice. No respectable voting booth has voting day without a local fund raising opportunity with some type of food for sale. Part of the voting culture.

On another note I spent a long time on the kitchen floor scrubbing it clean.  Whilst down there I could see the kickboard also needed cleaning as well as the lower kitchen doors. Daily sweeping and very frequent mopping has not been enough. Of course I blame the dogs.
