A day in the life

Our lady - Waffles

25th of march is Waffleday in Sweden. The riddle is, what similarities does Notre Dame have with waffles? Gabriel, the archangel, told Mary on this day some time ago, that she was pregnant with the Son of God. Traditionally this day was proclaimed by the Christian church to be called Annunciation of Our Lady or, Our Ladys day. In French Our Lady is Notre Dame, in Swedish "Vår Fru". By the commons the day was called "Vårfrudagen", the peasants interpreted the day (at least in Swedens southern parts) as the day of spring and the cultivating of the land could begin ("vår" in Swedish, "our" in English, is the same word and spelling as our word for spring, "vår". So, that's easy to understand, but waffles? Story goes that if you say the word Vårfrudagen quickly in Swedish it's going to come out as something sounding very similar to "Våffeldagen", waffle day. Waffle day is therefore officially on the 25th of March, the day of Our Lady.
I had four.

One good thing about my flat island is that you can see long in advance, that you better stop what you're doing, like cutting wood for example, in good time to go indoors and seek shelter with a cup of tea.
