Purple saxifrage

Saxifraga oppositifolia or Purple saxifrage is a very rare alpine flower, and today we were lucky enough to be taken to see it!
Robs friend John who lives near Ingleborough offered to take us, and as a rare sunny day presented itself we went.
It was quite a tramp up Pen-y-ghent and John is a fit fell runner so we were soon puffing a bit! But the brilliant purple flowers enticed us up. They are in perfect flower at the moment and there were good patches just clinging to the limestone rock crags.
Really worth the route March!
