A bluebird day

Today was a perfect bluebird day - nothing to do with birds, rather it's skiing parlance for a day of perfect blue skies, sunshine and powdery white snow, which often follows a period of intense snow falls. I cannot remember such a beautiful day here for a long time, it was not cold, there was warm spring sunshine and so much snow glistening in the sunshine.

After breakfast we went for a long walk up the valley from Mobile to Alp Garfuin, it's a very popular walking route. Xena may not be a water baby but oh my goodness does she love the snow, she cannot get enough of it running in deep snow and bouncing through the powder. (see extra) At Alp Garfuin we had a light lunch of kürbissuppe (pumpkin soup) before walking back down the valley again. We chatted to an Englishman who was also walking and spends the winters here every year.

Gavin then spent the rest of the day working. So much for taking a break, I thought he had one or two zoom calls this week but other than a morning walk with me, he works the entire time. Last night he was still sending emails at 10.30pm. It's mainly school stuff in his role as Chairman of Governors, which we knew was a demanding role but trying to fit it in with his normal job is proving rather challenging, I never knew so much stuff went on at schools, and all the challenges they are busy dealing with seem to have a direct link to the effect of the Covid lockdowns - we are only now seeing the negative effect of those lockdowns, the younger generation certainly paid to save the older generation.

Later in the afternoon, I took Xena for another walk around the golf course. It is closed in winter so is ideal to walk her there - she runs off the lead and just loves running up and down the snowy banks.

Our friends who arrive on Thursday phoned this morning to say that British Airways have cancelled their flight due to strikes in France. They managed to book another flight on Swiss Air which does not seem to be affected by the strikes! British Airways is another of those British institutions that are on their way out - they are a budget airline charging premium prices and offering nothing with it.

Tonight Gavin and I are going out for dinner, it will be nice not to cook tonight.

I have added some more photos here if you are interested.
