Tosson Hill

A strenuous 20km hike today that had lots of interest. Left S at the cottage as this was a bit ambitious. It was great to be able to start the walk from the door with a pleasant walk up a wooded valley with a tumbling brook and lots of wildlife including red squirrels (but I didn’t see any). After gaining height my boots waterproofness was put to the test crossing Boddle Moss to the high point that was Tosson Hill. The photo was taken from Boddle Moss looking back towards the cottage that was somewhere where the sun was shining in the blip. Then onto Simonside and then down through forests and onto to the river Coquet. The hike passed through Caiston nature reserve, which is now, apparently, a trout fishery but still looks like a nature reserve to me. Another couple bumps to finish off the circular 20km hike with 600m of ascent. And the rain held off, mostly.

It was just great to be out and should sleep well tonight.
