Yelcho Glacier

Today the rain eased off and there was a deep blue sky by midday. We left the shores of Lake Yelcho early to hike up some 6 kms to see the hanging Yelcho glacier. The climb was through rain forests and crossing multiple streams trickling down the mountain side. The extras show some close ups of this magnificent hanging glacier sliding down between two mountains.

These ancient wonders, forests and glaciers, drippy curious fungi, mosses and ferns, give one a deep sense of how small and insignificant we are, but in equal measure an inner peace and joy.
