Gently down the stream

Red Deadnettle

Lamium purpureum

Also know in various English counties as (amongst others) Deaf-Nettle, Dumb-Nettle, Dog-Nettle and Red-Archangel.  The last is interesting to me because we still call one of its cousins Yellow-Archangel.

This was blipped quite early this morning just outside in the Close.  It was raining.  Infact it has been raining the majority of the day.  Hey ho!

Now, WILDFLOWER WEEK:

The WildFlowerWeek23 challenge begins this Sunday, 2nd April and will run until mid/end September.  For those of you who don't know about it:

 - each challenge runs from Sunday mornings to midnight the following Saturday
- you can put in as many entries as you like in any one week
- I will announce the Hearts and Hon Mentions in the middle of the following week
- the tags will be: #WFW23_01, #WFW23_02, #WFW23_03, etc, as the weeks tick by
- if anyone would like to try hosting for a week or a month, that would be great, please let me know
- equally, if anyone (a Southern Hemisphere blipper?) would like to take it over after September, that would be wonderful, let me know otherwise it will go into cold storage over the (Northern Hemisphere) winter
- I will put notifications of where we are in terms of the week numbers on the Challenges page (under 'Community')
- Finally many of you will know I try to include the plant's Latin name on my entries as I'm told it can be a help to those in different parts of Europe and the US who want to look up whether it also grows near them.  Doing this is very much not obligatory, but may be quite fun for others if you can..
