Tourists

For Christmas, we planned each other a van outing. I knew Rich was keen on visiting Norfolk so this trip was planned for him.

We’ve had a day’s very enjoyable bimbling which started, thankfully not with Little Dog in the early hours, but strolling on Cromer pier. A bacon butty and coffee went down well before we stepped off and took ourselves to Cley Marshes.

We tried to go fossil hunting first but they’ve installed a new height barrier since I checked on Google maps which apparently stops getting used on 1st April - seemed a joke but it wasn't!

We’ve spent the day mooching with Little Dog and taking ourselves off one at a time to the bird hides which are fantastically close to the water. Avocets, snipe, Mediterranean hills, teal, linnets, hundreds of Brent geese and what I think I’ll post, marsh harriers. Rich saw a bittern fly over on his outing and I heard them booming which is pretty cool.

We ate dinner at the beach car park and pootled back via a pub and a sunset watch (which wasn’t spectacular but worth a try).

All in all, a grand day and we’re shattered. So, 20:49 and the lights are going out!
