As I look to the north

Just has to be a verse, taken from my favourite Sorley MacLean (2011) 'Collected Poems' volume, today:

The Ebb-Tide Running

Tonight in Edinburgh
as I look to the north,
a deep strath by the ocean
is in my sight up yonder;

bright gashes between clouds
and holes filled with light in the sky,
opening the doors
to my own great firmament

where a stretch of water twists
around the thighs of the mountains:
Liathach and the Cuillin
and Blaven yonder.
