Kyoto by night

We've arrived in Kyoto, having successfully negotiated the JR Lines bookings and found our Shinkansen train! The journey was effortless; we got beautifully prepared lunches in the station shops, and the train itself was spacious, clean and super smooth.

Kyoto is great so far. Our guesthouse is very central and there are lots of little shops and restaurants. We tried out an Izakaya this evening, which is basically a relaxed bar/restaurant. Like a lot of places you have to take your shoes off to enter and we're not the most expert at doing that tidily yet...
