The Knife Angel

A very different day today, wet as forecast but we had decided to go into Bradford to see up close  ‘The Knife Angel’  sculpture currently on display there.
It is situated right outside the City Hall and pretty large and impressive. More colourful than I expected too. I’ve chosen the close up so you can see the detail of the blunted knives that have been out together to create the body and the wings.
(I believe there are 100,000)
It was created in 2014 for the ‘Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife’ amnesty campaign.

A salutary thing to see the statue has been touring British cities since that time, I hope its message is working.

We went on to M & S in the Broadway centre for a coffee as I had a couple of free vouchers left, so together with the free bus travel it was an inexpensive excursion.

We did call in at Waterstones and would have used their cafe had we not had vouchers. Couldn't stay long though as we needed to hot foot it to the Interchange for our bus home. We got there just in time.
