The Woodland Garden (Tuesday 4th April 2023)

The Persian Pearl tulips in this pot were more fully open a day or two ago, but the cooler nights have persuaded them to reverse the process. The promise of colour when they do open and the soft texture of the petals meanwhile are still an ongoing pleasure in the Front Yard.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Nico - Innocent And Vain (recorded Summer 1974)
When Nico heard the masters for her first album Chelsea Girl she was horrified to discover the flute that had been overdubbed, yet did not mind when Brian Eno made synthesizer noises all over this track. She was right, of course, but listening to Brian Eno describing the sessions for the album The End (in an interview with Iggy Pop broadcast at the weekend) it turned out that he was simply making test noises before actual recording began, but the producer, John Cale, had taped them and edited them on to the finished master. They all agreed on Nico's unique talent.
