Landing in Lisbon

Up at 5:30 - the hotel provided breakfast and a packed lunch. Then a three hour coach ride to Marco Polo airport in Venice, then waiting for our flight, which wasn't too delayed, then another three plus hours to Lisbon. Collected our car, had a mini walk down to the Tagus, then two plus hours driving home, with a shop on the way.

View, from the plane, of the Tagus as it joins the sea, the beaches of Caparica in the foreground.

A lot hotter here than in Croatia, couldn't wait to take off my socks and boots.

Unfortunately, something has gone wrong with the electricity while we were away, so everything in the freezer is ruined, and plants too dry, and we have very little water. Mike has got lights going, and seeing if he can get some water pumped... I just want to go to bed.

Gratefuls:
- getting home safely (some colleagues with small children missed a connection and trying to find a way home still)
- the strong smell of orange blossom as we got home; the trees are thick with it
- chats with Deb, and Ju and Eden in Brazil
