Double Gloucester Gran Banned

Full story here

We bring you the news that matters.

How many of you knew about Gloucestershire cheese rolling? No, how many really? Or woolsack racing? CleanSteve and I will probably attend that event on Bank Holiday Monday, though I am keen to see a truck being pulled by 'uman beings in Stroud, too. What the paper doesn't say about cheese rolling is that the people chasing the gigantic cheese down a steep hill are usually well oiled, which might explain the high rate of casualties. It also fails to mention that the winner of the cheese rolling contest/race wins the gigantic round cheese. I wonder if they keep it on the mantelpiece forever, and polish it.

At any rate, the article makes it clear (unlike the headline) that the cheese supplier has not actually been banned from supplying a cheese to those who wish to roll it, but merely advised against it, in case she is then regarded as the 'organiser' of this event. The row about cheese rolling vs health and safety vs police interference has been going on as long as I can remember. I do not believe it will ever be stamped out, and if people want to roll cheese on a bank holiday monday...

Perhaps we should go there for a blip!

UPDATE: this story went national AND international. You heard it here first.
