One street #23 Green Oasis

The tops of the beech tree

Have sprouted of late,

Are changed and renewed

From their withered state.

From "Battle of Trees" by the Bard Taliesin, translated by Robert Graves

Another early morning yomp, another gorgeous day, and today the trees win. They are looking fantastic, huge, snaky, shrouded in green This leafy arbour is only about 200m long, very unusual on a peninsula pretty much devoid of trees, and on each side the land soon reverts to little fields, mountain and bog. This leafy oasis is the remains of an 18C estate, Evanson's Cove, where formal gardens once abounded. Graham Norton's house is now on the original site and is still surrounded by a rich an exotic variety of vegetation. Part of my one street series.

I got to join in the Bollywood warm up today (see yeserday's journal for explanation) - fantastic, so enjoyable and so well done! This on top of my morning walk, and an unexpected evening of table tennis last night!

Apologies for lack of browsing. Schull short film festival starts tonight and we're off to see What Richard Did , meant to be excellent if a bit harrowing. We might go mad and take supper in Schull as well.
