Good boy!

Spud, the stoat-sniffer-outer, sat and waited for his human counterpart to hurry up and come and see what he's found!  He's doing a terrific job and went on to find an even better spot 100 yds away with fresh scat. Great work, Spud!

So, we have had five of these little savage hunters caught very near our property in the past three weeks along the shoreline. Four of these were pregnant, so that's potentially another 35 animals caught by default. Apparently one individual normally covers a territory of about 70km; the fact that there have been five caught within ½ mile of each other just demonstrates what easy pickings our native wildlife is (the iconic Orkney vole mainly).  The stoat we spotted under the birdfeeder was caught a week ago, just where Spud indicated at the time. 

More traps have now been laid ...
