The Bullers of Buchan is a gloop hole (80 feet in depth) which was formed when the roof of the cave collapsed.  The name gloop refers to the noise the seawater makes as it comes through the entrance to the cave.  The name Bullers is derived from from the French word ‘bouilloire’ which means boiling pot.  On stormy days the turbulent waters crash against the walls of the cave and the scene resembles a pot boiling.
