One daze at a time...

Dramatic background

to a no less dramatic drop in enthusiasm...
After yesterday's most successful walk in the wilderness, I (wrongly) assumed that the troops would like nothing better than to go for a bracing walk up a hill above Keem beach.
Not quite.
Today was back to basics and a careful mix of bribes and mild threats had to be concocted to get these two into the back of the car, where they proceeded to ignore us behind a technological wall of LCD screens and headphones.
Removing them from the car and prying their devices out of their hands was equally difficult but we eventually got there and made our way up the hill. Breathtaking views were awaiting those ready to drink them in.
Later there was a dip in the crystal clear waters of Keem bay (for 25% of the party).
Shortly after leaving the car park, Mrs Raheny spotted something in the water below and we spent ten delightful minutes watching three basking sharks harvesting plankton from the surface of the bay.
A fine day for making memories, even if in Finn's case the memory that will stand the test of time is of the overpriced oven chips bought from a van on the Keem beach car park, with the clever little pocket at the top of the cardboard cone to house a dollop of ketchup.
