You buy a fishing rod of 135 meters long and connect a line of 150 meter to it. Then you hook a packet of cigarettes to it and try to put this on a moving skateboard 60 meter away from you (without touching anything). That is roughly what a crane driver on the Thialf is doing 12 hours a day. Here you see the supply vessel Rig Express being backloaded by Thialf's portside crane. The weather is getting rough for the next few days, so this operation was finished just in time.
