Live Long and Prosper

Space: the final frontier.

These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no dog has gone before!

I chose the theme of Space/Astronomy/Celestial Sky today because on this day in 2019 astronomers released the first ever image of a black hole and in 1986, Haley’s comet came closest to earth on it’s most recent passage.

Behind Spock is the Southern Cross constellation and pointers.  I gave them a bit of a twinkle so you could easily pick them out.  They were photographed at 2 am this morning along with the moon Spock is sitting on.  The pointers left to right are Alpha Centauri and Beta Centauri.  Wasn't Alpha Centauri where the Robinsons in "Lost in Space" were heading?  The Cross (Crux) is made up of Acrux (bottom), Mimosa (left), Gacrux (top), Imai (right) and Ginan (between Acrux and Imai).

Well, I think that fits the bill for today's theme.

A coloured version without the star twinkles and moon is the extra.
