A Day for Painting

In typical UK Bank Holiday Monday fashion, the weather took a turn for wet and windy today. Although there were some spells of brightness, I decided to dig out the watercolours and work on a botanical study of a variegated camellia I started in a workshop a few weeks ago.  The flower I was studying had long been sent to the compost bin, but I had some photos and the colour swatches made at the time.

I'm really pleased with the result so far. The leaves and fine detail still need work, but I have learnt a lot from the process and, probably more importantly, I've really enjoyed doing it.
