O, To be in England
Now that April 's there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England—now!
- 'Home Thoughts From Abroad' Robert Browning (1812-1889)

I am glad to be in Blighty for my first Spring here in a quarter of a century, but Browning's nostalgia recalls a rather different April in England from the one that I'm seeing so far, other than Easter Weekend which was glorious. Although it was a lovely sunny morning, by lunchtime it was totally overcast and by mid afternoon the wind and rain were back.  Yellow warning weather alert in some regions for tomorrow. April in England 2023 - more chills than chaffinch.

Walked to Asda before the rain set in and on the way back picked some dandelions for Tortie. Blankets of these beautiful, joyous blooms as every verge and many private gardens are laden with their abundant growth. Gorgeous and deserving of their very own Blip (before being munched!!)
