A Meandering Life...

The Hundertwasser Loos, Kawakawa.

The Hundertwasser toilets in Kawakawa were the first of his installations I saw back in March 2012. I paid a visit again in 2019 and like my Blip yesterday I discovered much more about this artists.

The public toilets continue to attract tourist but in 2020 a new building was opened behind them as part of the Te Hononga-Hundertwasser Memorial Park (Facebook link). This was just 6 months after the artist had died. It has his designs, art and details about his love for the area. Well worth the $5 entrance fee.

I have added an extra of some of the detail of the Gents toilet* and also a collage of the new building. * you don't have to look at that one... ;o)

We are now settled in our accommodation for the next 5 nights. I will show you that tomorrow. This will act like a detox part of our trip.

The weather was kind again when we needed it to be. Our trip up from Whangārei was dry and it didn't start to rain until we stepped into a cafe in Kerikeri for lunch, then it felt like the bathwater was being dumped on us. Needless to say we stayed a little longer than we needed to but after that we have had a nice day.
