a lifetime burning

After last night's gales and rain it was a pleasant surprise to find the sun shining first thing this morning.  This is another exercise in my trying to capture small birds in flight in the garden.  It's unsurprisingly difficult, but it's a good technical challenge all the same.

While we have garden birds and dragonflies in our garden I read with interest that a family in Pembrokeshire have discovered a wild beaver in theirs.  It is apparently building itself a lodge under their pond deck.  The UK is only just starting to allow some limited introduction of beavers, so to have a wild one turn up in your garden is quite something. Mind you, their pond must be a lot bigger than mine if it can house a beaver and its dam!

Needless to say the calm first thing this morning didn't last and we are now back being battered by Storm Noa once again, with added thunder and lightening. At lunchtime, Cathy and I popped out for a quick toasted sandwich at the local garden centre as she needed a clematis for a vacant spot in one of the flower beds.  Needless to say, the new purchase is being carefully sheltered just at present and no one will be trying to plant it until today's storm is over.
