Stuff and Nonsense

Almshouses chapel, Wotton-under-edge

It was a long journey down to Cornwall today. Hubby did a great job of driving all the way. We set off at 8.30am and arrived just after 16.30pm with a stop for lunch at Wotton-under-edge.
This is our normal stopping off point when we are travelling towards the southwest and the 17th century inn, The Falcon always provides us with a good meal.
Next door to The Falcon are a set of 17th century almshouses that are still in use today, although they have been updated considerably over the years. The number has been reduced from 22 to 9 rooms, all now including a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and sitting room. As well as the apartments there is a tiny chapel in the centre of a courtyard. This is the stained glass window that depicts Hugh Perry and Thomas Dawes - both benefactors of the town. A nice little area to explore whilst hubby went and fetched the car!
