Bird's Eye View

The campsite under the viaduct at Herbeumont - & not your usual caravans!! The viaduct used to carry the railway over the Semois but the railway's long gone, so now the viaduct has been developed as part of a long-distance cycling network in the Ardennes. The campsite seems a bit of an eyesore for those wishing to photograph the viaduct - but, on closer inspection from above, has quite an interesting mix of residences!

We did another forest walk today, south from the Aire we're camped on, over the viaduct & up through the forest, visiting several viewpoints overlooking the Semois & its meanders. Unfortunately the sun failed to make an appearance & it became progressively more grey, damp & misty. I did take shots from the viewpoints to record a good walk but chose the campsite as a sharp image instead. I've included a shot of the viaduct - road bridge in the foreground, slate quarry up the hill in the background - as an extra, to put the scene in context (& to demonstrate the weather!).
