Day 143 of 365 - County Hall!

Welcome to day 143 of 365 (Finished image after Editing)

The original photo was taken this afternoon in the city centre area of Coventry. The image is of County Hall. The building which is now used as a Bar and grill, was once home to Coventry's Crown and County Court (this is from the time that Coventry was also classed as a County as well as being a City). It was built and opened in 1783. The building also has attached to it the old Prison Governor's House (out of sight of this picture). The building was still in use as a Court up until 1988 when a new Court complex opened in Much Park Street and Little Park Street. The building has remained empty for some years until last year when it was converted into it's current use as a Bar / Grill House. Part of the old features of the court have been restored including, the cells of the court. These have been transformed into a dining area. The judge's seat and the crown crest along with the viewing gallery and the dock also survive. One of the more notable cases was in the year 1849. This was the case of Mary Ball. She was convicted of poisoning her husband and was Hanged outside the County Hall. 20,000 people watched the execution of Mary who was the last person to be hanged in Coventry.

The County Hall is classed as a Grade II* listed building. The building is number 15 on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken using the camera App Huemore for iPhone. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.

First of all I used the newly updated app Perfectly Clear to edit the image. The edits were made by applying the Fix Tint preset to the photo. Next I used the app called ShockMyPic to bring out some more artistic detail to the picture. I then used the App Distressed FX to add the extra texture to the image using the Cole overlay and the Lade Texture. Finally I added the border to the image using the Wet Plate (damaged surface) Border in the app Alt Photo.
