‘Rowing in the Rain’

We were at Talkin Tarn in the North Pennines this morning. The lake is home to Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club, which has been based on the late for over 150 years, and I saw at close hand how to put a rowing boat into the water. This is one of their smaller boats - their collection of ‘eights’  is a truly impressive sight (Extra)

We were there to do a bit of parkrun tourism. Despite the rain, Talkin Tarn Country Park parkrun is a beautifully scenic (and deceptive challenging) course which takes in both the lakeside path and the wooded trails behind. Much smaller than Edinburgh parkrun, everybody, fellow runners and volunteers, was extremely welcoming, and we really enjoyed our trip! (Photo of the start in extras)
