Seaweed

Coogee, the name of the suburb and the beach, is from the Dharug word “koojah” translated as “bad smell” or “a stinking place” according to the Council. The smell is from the seaweed that washes in and is cleaned away each day. Today there were dried and blackened twists on the sand, wide green folds, sticks of bright green. I didn’t notice any pungency.

Edit: Changed the pic.
