Next door’s cat often wanders through the garden

He is called Barra. No idea why, and neither have the neighbours. They brought him from the Cats Protection League. He already had that name went they chose him at the Centre.
Maybe he has Scottish heritage with a name like that, who knows.
I’ve been busy washing and making two pans full of Cock-a-Leekie soup.
Lots of busy birds in the garden this morning,
The starlings, or Shebbies as I call them, were digging up grubs and worms as well as hanging on to the fat ball feeder on the garage wall, The squirrel then bosses them away and takes over.
Bluetits, coal tits and our garden robin in amongst the wood pigeons and the two hedge sparrows who are building a nest in the cotoneaster which covers the garage wall. The blackbird comes for sultanas.
The sun has decided to put in an appearance just now after lunch, and it is quite windy.
The clouds are fairly scudding across the sky.
It might even be warm enough in the summerhouse this afternoon
I’ve just started a new book by Dinah Jeffries called “Daughters of War”.
I just knew it was going to be a good read even after a few pages.
