A Day Worth Recording

Keukenhof

Rotterdam Day 2 - Tulip day.  The timing of our trip to see J was aligned to the season so E could have a tulip fix.  We'd expected to see tulips everywhere but, although Rotterdam does have some rather nice planted areas, all the fields viewed from the train were just boringly green pasture.

We had booked a day at Keukenhof - a tulip park.  The day started badly as the train supposed to take us from Rotterdam to Leiden wasn't running.  However, Dutch stations have staff, indeed helpful staff, who directed us to an alternative route.

The bus transfer from the station was a bit of a nightmare too - near as dammit stationary for half an hour in the queue at the entrance to the park.

That all over with, the gardens were a delight (if heaving with people at some places).  It's a challenge to pick a few from the 200+ shots, but we did like the mixed planting areas, with tulips, daffs, hyacinths, etc. and perhaps our favourite area was the 'wilder' parts with the more subtle species tulips.

Oh, and we did find fields of... hyacinths!?
