Now, as I see it......

Walmington on Sea

Weybourne station on the railway has been transformed into Walmington on Sea for the annual 'Dad's Army' weekend.  It's appropriate, as many scenes where a railway was involved were filmed here when the original series was produced back in the 1960's and 70's.  One episode in particular, The Royal Train, was being re-enacted by a group from the Dad's Army Museum in Thetford who greeted every train with a Guard of Honour, one holding up a replica sign saying 'Have you seen the King'.

We took the train from Holt, stopping off at Weybourne Walmington on Sea then carried on to Sheringham where we had fish and chips for lunch before getting the train back home.  My main photo is of a lady in period dress greeting a train, whilst I've added a collage of the re-enactors around the station.  The event carries on until Monday.
