A Day In The Life

Too Much

Our area received more than 5” of rain in less than 24 hours! That’s more than we get in a month! The wind howled all night too beating the rain against the windows. Needless to say we didn’t get much sleep • At 4am I was baking muffins! • When the sun came up I stepped outside to soggy grass and lots of scattered twigs and branches, but it was the runoff that was most impressive. Down a banking from our yard a fast running creek had formed. It snaked its way from the roadway through the woods for as far as the eye can see. It’s surprising how loud it is • When the rain stopped around 1130am we took a ride to both Gardiner and Hallowell to see what was happening with the river. As expected the water was high and running fast. Locally it’s about 9’ but forecasts say by later tonight it will be at 17’ which will flood the area in my blip, and the deck I blipped earlier this week with the colored chairs. Fingers crossed it doesn’t go higher because then businesses and homes will be affected • Unfortunately more showers are due this week…when it rains it pours, they say • Happy Mayday!
