Chobham Carnival

The weather was kind for today's Chobham Carnival. The carnival always takes place on the May Bank Holiday Monday and is a big event for the village. It starts with a procession from the Chobham Rugby Club through the High Street to the recreation ground. At the head  of the procession this year was this beautifully well kept, vintage fire engine. It was proceeded by the Chobham Morris Team whose hobby horse features, along with the team, in the extra photos. More vintage fire engines followed with a modern fire engine at the back loudly sounding its siren much to the consternation of a dog that was in its owner's arms next to me. The recreation ground was packed with loads of stalls and refreshment tents ringing the arena space, where various entertainments took place during the afternoon.  We took home a jar of blood orange marmalade from the Country Market, some home made samozas and the hope that we might get lucky in one of the draws we entered.
