Les Nageuses

I hadn’t expected to be in the sea today because the tide was out first thing, but with daughter #1 in town we hatched a plan to go later when there would be more water in the sea. We arranged to get the same bus, my getting on many stops and traffic lights before her before arriving at a grey, chilly beach at 11 o’clock.

#1 found the conditions strange compared with the Moray Firth where she usually swims. The water there is clear while Porty  water is clouded with sand and it isn’t possible to see through to the ocean floor. Nevertheless you don’t need to see the latter to enjoy yourself and we had a lovely dooking session with a little swimming and  a few handstands thrown in for good measure.

Back home shivering on the bus, me to the Dower House and #1 to her city flat. I have thawed out but I have had to put the heating on again. There seems no end to this cold weather. It’s a little hard  to hear the words Global Warming bandied about. Perhaps it would be described better here in Scotland as Global Climate Change and leave out any suggestion to higher temperatures when we are all freezing to death in a constant ENE wind.
