Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 270

T-Rex Cancer Awareness : Day 5

Encouraged by the success of yesterday's 10 k, T-Rex was ready for both the Half and Full Marathons that ran the length of Portobello Promenade, today, as part of its route from the city centre. The Half started at 0800 and the Full at 1000. Both races finished in Pinkie Park, Musselburgh. To see the promenade full with runners in a continuous column from Seafield all the way to Joppa was a moving sight. To see some runners running in memory of deceased members of their families was even more moving. Some wore tee-shirts in solidarity with the Boston Marathon. Yesterday, in Boston, many of those who had been denied finishing , due to the outrage, were able to complete that last mile in a symbolic act of commemoration, closure and defiance of the terrorist.

The organisation of The Edinburgh Marathon Festival, the support from the crowds and the sense of great personal achievement as each runner crossed the finishing line combined to make this event one of those days when it was great to be in Edinburgh. T-Rex was very proud of everyone too!

(T-Rex helped wave a large Polish Flag to encourage the runners and was pleasantly surprised to see how many people from Polska were taking part!)
