THE WINNERS!

It was a wonderful night for these soon-to-graduate Seniors at our local high school.  It was Scholarship and Awards Nite and many thousands of dollars in scholarships were handed out...the most prestigious of which was for $25,000 / year at the University of Wisconsin sponsored by Sargento Cheese, a local company.

It was great fun for this ex-teacher, who still keeps up with the student body, to see these outstanding young men and women be recognized for their academic and athletic accomplishments.

It was most interesting to see what their future plans were which ranged from Technical School aspirations to becoming a Physician's Assistant...just one step below being an M.D.  There are two of them pursuing that degree.  Another big winner, in the bright blue outfit at the left, will be majoring in Environmental Science and Biology and is enthusiastic about being involved in solving the world's environmental problems (she's a smart cookie having a GPA of 3.987/4.0). There's one studying Culinary Arts and has designs of being a chef. There's a couple of them intending to be nurses...which we need badly.  Did I mention the ones interested in business and International relations? How about biochemistry?

The range of their desires is wide and inspiring.  I am so proud of them...an outstanding class.  They will be missed.
