Small Bugloss

Another lovely day. I did some gardening in the morning, paperwork in the afternoon, and finally went for a walk in the vineyards.

The vintners were out in force with their tractors, spraying herbicides and probably other -cides, too. Only some vineyards still look green, not everyone kills all the grass and herbs on the ground; but for most, wildflowers like small bugloss are just weeds.

I found a little patch of these plants with prickly leaves and intensely blue flowers at the edge of one of the vineyards that haven’t been sprayed. Perhaps I’ll start a little blip series of pretty weeds.
