God Save The King

King Charles III has succeeded his mother to the throne and was crowned today along with Queen Camilla. King and Queen of the United Kingdom and 14 other realms.

I have no time for this "Not MY KIng" malarky. If you are a UK  or Commonwealth citizen, he IS your king. In times of old the kings lead our country into battle, now the modern royals have served their time in the armed forces and some have seen active service. The emphasis today was still on service. You can move to a country without monarchy, but just remember how useless you are at voting for politicians!

We watched the TV coverage, then went out to join with locals for a drink in the pub and an afternoon bring and share tea in the village hall.

Little did we know that, in recent times, Charles had been entertained on the other side of our garden fence! Our neighbours have been invited to the coronation concert at Windsor Castle this weekend.

I didn't buy any Charles III memorabilia, our children want us to get rid of clutter so I keep reusing the mug I bought for Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. Tea is going cold in the mug so I'm off to drink it. Cheers!
