Stanno

We headed out for a nice big breakfast so we could fill ourselves up before heading into Exeter for the lunchtime footie match.  So weird having a moon Sunday match!

Exeter ended the season in style with a 3-2 win over Morecambe.  Jay Stansfield got all three Exeter goals.  He is a fan favourite as he is the son of Adam Stansfield who played for Exeter until he sadly died of cancer when Jay was young. The club retired Adam’s number 9 shirt when he died and looked after Jay and his family.  He played for the youth Academy for a while before he moved to Fulham.  He came back on loan this season and took his Dad’s number 9 which was put back into action just for him.  An emotional season all around.  So there were resounding chants of ‘Stanno’, all afternoon long.

He is off back to Fulham as the season ends but we are all hoping they let us have him back again for a while next season!

Exeter ended up safe in a mid table spot which is not bad for a first season in League 1.  Let’s hope we can stay up again next season.

I watched more footie when I got home and even did a bit of crochet as my bellringing of yesterday didn’t leave my arm too sore.  I may even try again next Sunday provided I have a nice comfy week with it.

More football tomorrow as Leo has his penultimate game of the season and his youth team.
